Fingal Scout County Camp 2014
What a busy weekend we had with 89th Bremore. Fingal Scout County had a County Camp in Lough Dan Scout Centre in Co. Wicklow. Luckily for us we have no tents or equipment yet so we missed the TORRENTIAL rain on Friday night. Well except for Ciaran and Mary who were on the organising team and camped with Rush. The rest of the leader team and some of their Beavers, Cubs, & Scouts arrived down at lunchtime for activities.
After some instructions from Halpo the group headed off for the various bases.
First up was the Rope Walk where a member of the group had to walk along a rope while everyone else held it up off the ground.
This was then followed by some fishing in the lake before heading over to the campfire for some Marshmallow Roasting
After the exertions of the Obstacle Course it was time for something a bit more sedate and we made badges to commemorate the day and play games like twister and 21.
A cup of Hot Chocolate was called for by the campfire before heading back to the lake where Brendan was taking groups out kayaking.
By then the groups that were camping were starting to get cooking for dinner time and we decided to hit the road. We all had a brilliant day and can’t wait to stay down for the whole weekend next year.
However, the weekend was not over for 3 of our leaders. On Sunday Fiona, Alan were joined by Claire from the Cub leadership team for their Scouting Ireland Stage 3 Training Course. They had a great day and are raring to put their new skills to the test.
Training is really important for the leadership team to make sure that we are all fully up to speed with all the latest trends and developments from Scouting Ireland. We all hope to complete Stage 4 before the Investiture at the end of November
