Investiture
Tonight was going to be a busy night. We planned to invest 4 new scouts, two leaders, pitch tents for the first time and get a game in somewhere if we could. Very Ambitious for 1.5 hours.
We started our meeting outside. Some parents and leaders from other sections were present. After we recited our CHARTER, we asked the PLs to present their new scouts for investiture. They made their Scout Promise while holding on to our association flag. Their PLs then invested them by putting their Neckerchiefs on them. Well done and congrats to Roisín, Caitlin, Aisling, & Selina.
Next it was the turn of Sue who has recently joined the Beaver team and Dimi who will be an associate member of the group helping out with Cubs. They also made their promise while holding on the the association flag. Catherine, the Beaver leader invested Sue and Dimi’s wife, Fiona, also a Beaver leader, invested him. Welcome to #89thBremore.
Following the investiture the scouts grabbed the tents and we headed for the garden to pitch them.
Brendan took the Raven Patrol and pitched an Icelandic (Patrol) tent with them. It was different from other tents they had pitched previously with family and friends and it took a while, but it went up.
Meanwhile Ciaran was showing the Jaguars and Cobras how to pitch different types of dome tents. The weather was perfect and we got it all done before it got too dark. Unfortunately we didn’t have time for a game, but we will next week.
It was a great meeting and it was great to be outside for virtually the whole time. Long may it continue.
