Venture Camp Penultimate Day 😔

Today was a fairly chilled day. We were all up for breakfast bright and early - well all except Emma who was awarded the Grumpy Hat. She said it’s worth it though as she has the best 😴 ever. 

After breakfast and a fair bit of faffage we headed for the beach for more Surfing. Some of the girls went for body boards instead of Surf Boards. 

The surf was bigger today than it had been on Wednesday morning. Ciaran, Mary, & Donal elected to stay on the beach and take photos. We’ll add them as soon as we can take them off the 📷. 

Lunch was a kind of “yeah whatever”. Some  went to the shop for rolls, while others had fruit and sandwiches in the kitchen. Lucky we got changed out of our wet suits before going to the shop ⬇️

By mid afternoon everyone was chilling in the playground beside the campsite. Donal wanted to build “Achill Henge” since we arrived so he went and did that. The result is pretty cool. Loads of people stopped to take look and admire it. 

In the playground there was an impromptu review of camp so far and a look forward to how the section will run next year when the scouts move up. We also discussed attending Ventact South and what we needed to do to get there. It was a frank and open discussion where the leaders asked to see more decisiveness and responsibility being taken by the ventures and in return the ventures asked the scouters to communicate more clearly. Everyone agreed to do their best to make it happen. 

Dinner was from the chipper. 🍔 🍗 🍟 and eaten in the games room as the rain arrived in anger. 🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧🌧💦💦💦☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️ It was a chilled out evening with chats  and snoozes and cards being played. 

At 10 we grabbed our rain gear and headed to the Annexe Inn for some Trad Music. 

We sat in the back room and ordered drinks 🥤 There was plenty of chat and games and puzzles. Unfortunately the Trad Music never actually materialised, but that’s ok, we had good craic on our own. 

It was still lashing rain as we walked back to the campsite. The leaders headed for bed, but the ventures stayed up for a while chatting. And so ended the second last day of camp.
