Venture scouts are aged 15 – 17 and meet on Wednesday nights from 8 – 9:30pm. Our Venture Section started in September 2017 when our older scouts moved up from the Scout Section.

The Ventures are more self-reliant and choose their own activities and how meetings run. Because they are an older more experienced group, they can set their own goals and work towards achieving them or not. They plan and research their own activities & events to give them more ownership of the activities & events.

So far the Venture Section has

• Participated in and help run the County Camp

• Been Hiking in the Mourne Mountains

• Progressed on their Chief scout award

• Worked as staff on National Events in Larch Hill

• Attended international camps

• Planned their Summer Camp

• Set up their own Instagram account to show us their activities - see the link below

 

The venture scouts also work on the same Adventure Skills and Special Interest badges as all of the other sections, but at a higher level given their experience.
